IRENA Youth Forum 2027 in Abu Dhabi: fully funded places for young energy leaders

What is the IRENA Youth Forum?

The International Renewable Energy Agency runs the Youth Forum on the margins of its Assembly as a platform for youth empowerment, intergenerational dialogue and renewable energy innovation. The 2027 edition, held in Abu Dhabi, explores how young people are advancing grid modernisation, energy storage and system flexibility to integrate more renewables and expand reliable energy access.

Who can apply?

The forum is open to young people aged 18 to 35 at the time of the event who are actively engaged in renewable energy, sustainability, innovation or related fields and who lead or contribute to projects, start-ups, research or advocacy for the energy transition. Applications are welcome from all countries, selection considers geographic and gender balance, and every application must be submitted in English.

What is covered?

Up to 40 participants are selected for fully funded participation covering travel, accommodation and visa support, and there is no application or participation fee. Additional participants may be invited on a partially funded or self-funded basis.

How and when to apply

Submit the expression of interest form on the official page by 30 September 2026, midnight Abu Dhabi time. Selected participants are notified in November 2026, and enquiries go to the youth team address listed on the page.
