DA Young Leaders Programme 2027: political leadership training in South Africa

What is the Young Leaders Programme?

The Democratic Alliance runs this 12-month learning and development programme for young South Africans who share the party's values of freedom, fairness, opportunity and diversity. Participants build political knowledge, critical thinking, writing and public speaking skills through dedicated sessions and residential retreats.

Who can apply?

The programme is designed for South Africans aged up to 35 who are already making a positive impact in their communities and see politics, public service or government as a career path. Successful applicants align their personal values with the party's liberal principles.

What will you do during the year?

Every participant conceptualises and delivers a leadership project in their community. Past projects include anti-gender-based violence campaigns, school support programmes, employment projects for young women, and housing and flood-protection work in the Western Cape.
