International Machine Learning Competition (IMLC) 2026

The International Machine Learning Competition (IMLC) 2026 asks students to solve machine learning problems across several rounds, all online. Students of every nationality can enter, which makes it a practical way for learners in African countries to test their skills against peers worldwide.

Who can apply

The competition is open to high school and university students at any level of study. You compete from home, since every round runs online. Entering the qualification round is free.

How it works and what you can win

You start by solving the qualification problems and submitting your solutions. Strong scores take you to the next stage, and the final round is scheduled for 23 February 2027. A registration fee applies to a later round, so check the current conditions on the official page before you plan ahead.

The awards are worth 1500 USD in total, split between cash prizes and special honours. The top cash prize is 250 USD, for first place in the senior group. Every participant receives a certificate, finalists can earn Bronze, Silver or Gold Honours, and the best participants from each country receive national awards.

Qualification round solutions must be submitted by 13 December 2026 at 23:59 UTC.

Download the qualification problems from the official IMLC page and give yourself several weeks to work through them. Write your solutions clearly and upload your file well before the last evening.
