A UN-backed educational robotics competition for school teams, with online participation and a Grand Finale in Switzerland in June 2027. Video submissions close on 1 April 2027.
What is the challenge?
The International Telecommunication Union runs this platform-agnostic robotics championship to bring AI and robotics education to young people everywhere. Each edition is inspired by a global challenge, and the 2026-2027 edition focuses on health emergencies. Teams design, build and program a robot to complete a mission without a mandatory kit, and they can source hardware locally or reuse recycled materials.
Who can take part?
Teams compete in a Junior and a Senior age group; the exact birth-year ranges are on the official page. Participation is open worldwide. Where a national organiser exists, teams compete in person; elsewhere they prepare individually and submit their results as a video for the panel of judges.
What do finalists receive?
National winners and the best online teams are invited to the Grand Finale at the AI for Good Global Summit in Switzerland from 22 June 2027 to 25 June 2027, with complimentary summit passes, a youth exhibition space, media exposure and networking with UN representatives and partners.
Key dates
Registration for online participation opens on 1 October 2026, and video submissions close on 1 April 2027. The best online and national teams are announced in May 2027.
