Chevening Scholarships 2027/28: One-Year UK Master's

Chevening Scholarships 2027/28 fund a one-year master's degree in the United Kingdom, in any field of study. Applications opened on 4 August 2026, and the October deadline leaves little time, so start now if you plan to apply this cycle.

Who can apply

The programme accepts applicants from 53 African countries: Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, DR Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Not every African country is included, so find yours on the list before you start. You also need at least two years of work experience.

What the scholarship covers

Chevening is fully funded: it pays your university tuition and a stipend for living costs during the 12 months of study. With fees and living costs covered, you can concentrate on your course and your professional goals. The study takes place in the United Kingdom, so this is not a remote programme.

Deadline in your time zone

The deadline is 6 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC. In local time that means:

• 11:00 in UTC+0 countries such as Ghana, Senegal and Sierra Leone
• 12:00 in UTC+1 countries such as Nigeria, Algeria and Tunisia
• 13:00 in UTC+2 countries such as South Africa, Zambia and Rwanda
• 14:00 in UTC+3 countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania
