What awards are available?

The St Leonard's Masters Scholarship scheme recognises exceptional postgraduate students. Awards range from partial tuition fee reductions with an employability allowance to the Global Widening Participation package of full tuition fees, a GBP 18,000 stipend and a reserved room, although accommodation fees themselves are not included. One application puts you in the running for every scholarship in the scheme.

Who can apply?

International fee-status students applying for a full-time postgraduate Masters programme at St Andrews starting in 2027 or the following January can apply. You must meet at least one criterion: demonstrated financial need, previous needs-based funding, a socio-economically disadvantaged home area, a first-class grade point average, a proven record of academic excellence and leadership potential, non-academic achievement in areas such as music, theatre, sport or civic duties, a disability, or membership of a minority group.

How does the application work?

Apply first for your course, wait for your portal login, then apply for the scholarship through the Scholarships and Funding section. You will upload one academic and one personal reference, university transcripts and, for sport or music applicants, a CV and video. Applicants seeking needs-based awards must declare household income.

The application period opened on 17 August 2026 and closes on 3 February 2027; outcomes are published by late March 2027.
