Commonwealth Master's Scholarships 2027/28 for Study in the UK

Commonwealth Master's Scholarships 2027/28 are awarded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) for master's study at a UK university. The award runs for 12 months and pays the main costs of the degree, from travel to tuition and living expenses.

Who can apply

The scholarships are open to applicants from 21 listed countries, and any field of study is accepted. The African countries on the list are Botswana, Eswatini, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda and Zambia. India and Malaysia complete the list.

What the scholarship covers

The CSC pays an approved airfare from your home country to the UK and back at the end of the award, though not fares for dependants or trips made before the award is confirmed. Full tuition fees are covered under an agreement between the CSC and the UK university, so you pay no part of the fee. The stipend is GBP 1,712 a month, or GBP 2,000 a month at universities in the London metropolitan area, at current rates.

Deadline

The closing date is 20 October 2026 at 16:00 BST (UK time). Work backwards from that date so that your references, transcripts and other documents are ready in time.
