Who can apply?
Applicants aged 35 or younger from Burundi, DR Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania or Uganda can apply for a Master’s scholarship in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer science and IT, Natural sciences, or Business and management. Study is in person in Kenya, Rwanda or Tanzania. The programme has 120 awards.
What does the funding cover?
The scholarship package includes full tuition fees paid directly to the host university; one return economy-class air ticket between the scholar’s home country and host country upon commencement and completion; and a monthly stipend of EUR 380 for accommodation, meals, local transport and other living expenses. It also provides an arrival allowance of EUR 200 upon arrival in the study country and opening a bank account there. Where feasible, scholars are encouraged to open a EUR-denominated bank account to reduce potential losses from currency exchange fluctuations and conversion charges. A lump-sum EUR 650 study-materials allowance, a one-time EUR 1,500 study and research allowance, medical insurance for the scholarship duration, and a visa or entry fee where required are included.
