University of Lausanne Master's Scholarship 2027/2028 in Switzerland

The University of Lausanne offers a master's scholarship to strong students whose degree comes from a foreign university. It pays CHF 1,600 a month for the standard length of the chosen master's programme. The university states plainly that this does not cover the full cost of living in Switzerland, so the award works best alongside savings or other support.

Who can apply

Applicants of any nationality qualify if their bachelor's degree comes from a university outside Switzerland and is recognised as equivalent to a Swiss bachelor's degree. Final-year students can apply before graduating, provided the degree is completed before the master's starts, and there is no age limit. Language level matters: C1 in French for programmes taught in French, or C1 in English for programmes taught in English.

Which programmes are covered

Most master's degrees at the university are open, but several are excluded, including the master's programmes of the School of Medicine, the Master of Law apart from three specialisms, and the Master of Science in Health Sciences. Check the exclusion list on the official page before choosing, because the scholarship application also serves as the admission application for the chosen master's.

Deadline and documents

The deadline is 1 November 2026. By that date the online registration with a single PDF file must be complete, two recommendation letters must arrive from professional email addresses, and graduates of countries outside the Lisbon Recognition Convention must post certified copies of their diplomas and transcripts in a sealed envelope. A non-refundable administrative fee has to be paid before applying.
