ECTRIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Programme 2027

What does the fellowship offer?

ECTRIMS funds mentored research training in basic, clinical or applied research related to multiple sclerosis. Fellowships last one or two years, up to 24 months, and must be taken up at a European laboratory or clinic; they have to start before the end of the calendar year in which they are awarded.

Who is eligible?

Scientists and physicians of any nationality who hold an MD, PhD, ScD or an equivalent degree by the time of application can apply. Research must relate to multiple sclerosis in any relevant specialty. Applicants must not already have worked at the proposed host institution or under the proposed mentor.

What does the application require?

The applicant collects all documents and submits them as PDFs through the online system: material from the candidate, the proposed mentor and the host training institute, plus professional referees. A mentor may appear in only one application per cycle, and institutes are limited to three awards per cycle across all fellowship categories.

Deadline

Applications for the 2027 programme close on 1 December 2026 at 23:59 CET. Successful fellows and their mentors report on progress and finances at the end of each year.
