EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships 2027 for life-science research abroad

What does the fellowship offer?

EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships support excellent postdoctoral researchers throughout Europe and the world for up to two years. The fellowship includes a salary or stipend, a relocation allowance and support for fellows with children. Awardees can attend an EMBO Laboratory Leadership course and join the global network of EMBO Fellows.

Who can apply?

Researchers of any nationality who want to carry out postdoctoral research in the life sciences can apply, as long as the move involves international mobility, which is a key requirement of the scheme. A first-author publication or a first-author refereed preprint counts towards eligibility. From the autumn 2027 selection round, each researcher may submit only one fellowship proposal, and a host laboratory may support only one candidate per round.

When can you apply?

Applications are accepted throughout the year, with two cut-off dates a year. The next hard deadline is 22 January 2027 at 14:00 CET, and applications submitted after it fall into the following round.
