Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship 2027 at CRASSH, Cambridge

What is the fellowship?

The Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH) runs an internal competition to support applications for Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships held at the University of Cambridge, with the Isaac Newton Trust matching the Leverhulme award. Fellowships start from 1 September 2027 and are hosted by the Centre for Geopolitics, Cambridge Digital Humanities or the Centre for Pandemic Risk Management.

Who can apply?

Candidates of any nationality who will have completed a doctorate by the start of the fellowship can apply, provided they either hold a degree from a university in the United Kingdom or have held an academic position there for at least four months before the deadline. Applicants with three or more years of postdoctoral research experience, or who have already held a permanent academic post, are not eligible.

What does it pay?

Successful applicants are normally placed on Scale Point 41 of the university salary spine and move up one point for each year of the fellowship.

How and when to apply

Submit a cover sheet, a two-page CV, a list of major publications, a short statement of current research and a two-page research proposal through the online system by 12:00 noon on 16 October 2026, naming your chosen centre and a proposed mentor. Two reference letters, at least one from outside Cambridge, are uploaded by the referees on the same day.
