Czech Small-Scale Development Projects 2027 for Southern African NGOs 2026

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria runs an annual call for small-scale development projects, and the 2027 round is open to organisations working in nine countries of Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean.

What the grant covers

The Czech financial contribution for one project is 200,000 – 500,000 CZK in total. Co-financing from other sources is welcome but not required, so a project that already holds partial funding can still be put forward. The money is meant for the work itself rather than for a scholarship or a salary.

Who can apply

The implementer has to be a non-governmental and non-political organisation with legal personality in the country where the project will run. Eligible countries are Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia and South Africa. The call is aimed at professionals who already lead community work, and the embassy expects the focus to match the development priorities of the country, with emphasis on skills, community development and job creation.

How to apply

All proposals have to be carried out in English. The complete set of documents goes to the embassy by email, so there is no portal account to open and no fee to pay. Read the official call first: it lists every annex the proposal must carry, and an incomplete file is the most common reason a good idea is set aside.

Deadline

All documents have to be submitted by 15 September 2026. Work on the budget early, because the amount you request has to sit inside the range above and the embassy asks for figures it can check.
