21 Scholarship and Fellowship Deadlines in November 2026 for Africans

November 2026 holds 21 verified deadlines, all on fixed dates. Three close on the first day of the month and two on the last, with research posts, awards reserved for Africans and two fully funded places in between.

November 2026 at a glance

The 21 listings break down into 15 fellowships, 4 scholarships, 1 competition and 1 grant, from 20 funders. I Tatti in Florence is the only one with two.

This is a month for people with experience. Seven listings target professionals and six target postdoctoral researchers, while four each accept master's students, doctoral candidates and applicants at any level. Just one names undergraduates.

The money varies enormously. Only 2 of the 21 cover both tuition and a stipend, which is how this site defines fully funded, yet several fellowships pay a monthly stipend or a salary, and one pays up to USD 230,000 a year.

Fully funded picks

Two listings pay both tuition and a stipend, and they are very different offers.

Yenching Academy Fellowship 2027 at Peking University is the more complete. It adds accommodation, a round-trip fare and field study costs, so a successful scholar has little left to fund. The price of entry is that IELTS score and a competitive file for one of 120 places.

Open Doors Russian Scholarship 2027/28 for International Students leaves transport, food, housing and insurance to you. Price a year of rent and medical cover in your chosen city before you register.

Three fellowships come close without meeting the site's definition. Wallace Fellowship at I Tatti: postdoctoral residency in Florence with USD 5,200 a month pairs its stipend with a rent-free apartment when one is available, though insurance is not included. Hoover Fellow Position 2027 at Stanford's Hoover Institution for early-career scholars adds a housing allowance to the salary. Georg Arnhold Senior Fellowship 2028 at the GEI in Germany pays a monthly stipend and your return flight.

Two need a second look. The University of Exeter calls the places in A.S. Hornby Scholarship 2027/28 for English teachers, MEd TESOL at Exeter fully funded, but our listing confirms only tuition, so ask what the award pays towards living costs. University of Lausanne Master's Scholarship 2027/2028 in Switzerland is not full funding, in the university's own words.

How to plan ahead from now

From late September, the first of these deadlines is about five weeks away and the last about nine. That is time for two or three strong applications. It is not time for ten.

Start with eligibility, because no essay can fix a missed age limit or the wrong nationality. Then order the work by lead time:

• Book a language test now if a programme needs a score you do not yet hold.
• Ask your referees this week, and give them the exact deadline and time zone.
• Contact a host laboratory early for the EPFL fellowship, since the lab pays part of the salary.
• Finish the prerequisites: the Internet Society training modules, your Open Doors portfolio and a published story for the Asharami fellowship.

Watch the clock too. The Hoover cut-off of 11:59 PM Pacific Time falls on the morning of 18 November across Africa. Yenching works the other way, because 9:00 am in Beijing is the early hours of 30 November in Africa, so treat the evening before as your real deadline.
